Dive Shop
If you are interested in diving, a trip to the dive shop
is a good idea. This is because those who work at dive shops have an
expertise that you just cannot get if you buy from a big box sports
warehouse or some other place.
Some of the questions you might want to ask dive shop employees are?
• What size of wetsuit should I wear? – Even though you
might know what size of pants and shirts you normally wear, the sizes
of wetsuits are a little different. Most dive shops have a number of
wetsuits you can try on. The employees also will have access to size
charts that let them know how to choose the best size of wetsuit for
you.
• Where can I learn to dive? -- Many dive shops are either owned
by or closely associated with a drive school. This means that the employees
at these schools are going to be able to help you know how to take scuba
courses and where you van go to take them.
• What kind of regulator do I need? – There are a variety
of regulators. One of the factors that might influence your decision
about which kind to buy at the dive shop is what kind of diving you
will be doing. If you are simply practicing in a pool or doing diving
that does not go deep, you will not need a regulator that is as powerful
as a person who does deep-sea diving would need.
